The direct drive motor replaces conventional
servomotor-gearhead configurations
improving the response characteristics
of the unit.
The gearless DC motor drive is ideally
suited to high acceleration applications
requiring improved response for rapid
start/stop actions. The absence of
gearing also eliminates errors caused
by friction and backlash creating
a high threshold sensitivity which
is accurate to one arc-second in
a high performance positioning system.

require commutation electronics and
