Contract Diamond Machining

Axsys Technologies has over 25 years of experience in diamond turning precision optical components. Axsys' climate controlled diamond turning Lab has 26 - Nanoform® diamond turning machines with 8.6nm or better positioning resolution making Axsys the world's largest diamond turning operation in the world.

Diameters from 4mm to 700mm can be easily turned.  Surface accuracy's ¼ Wave and surface finishes 2-5nm Ra. are achievable.  Typical materials that can be machined are:

  • Germanium
  • Silicon
  • Zinc Sulfide (ZnS)
  • Zinc Selenide (ZnSe)
  • ZnS (Cleartran©)
  • Amtir
  • Calcium Fluoride (CaF2)
  • Barium Fluoride (BaF2)
  • Gallium Arsenide (GaAs)
  • Aluminum
  • Copper
  • Electroless Nickel
  • Polymers
  • InSb

Complex optical surface shapes can be machined, including:

  • Plano
  • Spherical
  • Aspheric
  • Diffractive/Binary
  • Off Axis Shapes
  • Injection Mold Tooling
  • Close Tolerance Dimensional Geometrys

Axsys' contract diamond machining lab can fabricate single prototype to high volume optical components, and offers a low cost, short leadtime solution to your optical needs. Our solutions can take the form of:

  • Single Element Lenses
  • Multi-Element Lens Assembly's
  • Single or Multiple Field of View Imaging Lens Assemblies
  • Manual or Motorized Imaging Lens Assemblies
  • Continuous Zoom Imaging Lens Assemblies
