Description:
Axsys Technologies, a $200M public company, with multiple operating divisions located throughout the US, manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, electronics capital equipment, graphic arts and medical-imaging markets.
This position is responsibilities for purchasing of machined parts, chemicals, energetic materials and composite products to support the operational aspects of assigned product lines.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Procurement of technical items particularly machined parts, chemicals, and composite products.
- Purchase materials using knowledge of FARs/DFARs.
- Controls material/inventory costs through negotiations with suppliers to ensure the best possible pricing of material and delivery schedules.
- Reviews and ensures timely placement of all purchase orders necessary to meet production schedules. Traces delinquent arrivals from purchase orders.
- Confers with Engineering and Manufacturing disciplines to support new product development and Customer Service Requirements.
The Required Qualifications for this Position Include:
- Must be a US Citizen or have US Person Status.
- Bachelors Degree in a business related field or equivalent years of experience and education.
- Experience working in a high technology and/or defense manufacturing environment;
- Must have ability to read drawings, mechanical/machine parts blueprints, and specification and technical documents.
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office Software; knowledge of ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation skills are essential.
- Solid organizational and planning capabilities.
- Ability to effectively interact and communicate with all levels of staff and management.
