Our IR Systems division in Nashua, NH produces precision infrared and visible optical components for use in high-end military and commercial applications.

Basic Function
The Level 3 - Diamond Turing Technician is an advance level position; requiring infrequent supervision will be given on-the-job training. The employee will set up and operate diamond turning machines in the production of low to high volume production jobs. These jobs have tight tolerances and are complex in nature. The employee will train others as directed by the Department Supervisor or Manager. The following skills and activities will form an integral part of the job.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Operate diamond tuning machines to manufacture germanium infrared optical lenses.
• Clean and visually inspect diamond turned lenses.
• Inspect lenses using Zygo interferometer and Ultracomp.
• Measure diameter, sag and center thickness using micrometer and drop gage.
• Record inspection data, labor hours and job information as required.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work station.
• Clean and maintain the diamond turning machines as required.
• Diamond Tool Inspection and Handling.
• Vacuum Chuck Mounting and machining.
• Spindle balancing.
• Diamond Tool Set up - multiple tools.
• Machine adjustment and program parameter changes to maintain lens tolerances.
• Machining of Zinc Selenide, Zinc Sulfide, Cleartran and Silicon infrared materials.
• Machining of Aluminum and Electroless Nickel.
• Machining of diffractive surfaces.
• Calibrate and use Form Talysurf to inspect lenses.

Education,Training:
High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:
2+ years Level 2 Diamond Turning Technician
Good verbal and written communications skills
Basic computer skills
