Description:
Axsys Technologies, a $200M public company, with multiple operating divisions located throughout the US, manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, electronics capital equipment, graphic arts and medical-imaging markets. Our IR Systems division in Nashua, NH produces precision infrared and visible optical components for use in high-end military and commercial applications.
Qualifications
- Knowledgeable with set up and operation of optical polishing equipment, and polishing techniques, to produce precision optical finishes on glass surfaces to quarter wave or better.
- Experience in grinding and pitch polishing in infrared optical materials such as Germanium, Silicon, ZnSe and ZnS.
- Must have the experience and ability to operate multiple polishing spindles.
- Knowledgeable with use of precision measurement devices including: dial indicators, micrometer gauges, calipers, test plates, optical flats, interferometers and autocollimators.
- Knowledgeable in application of optical metrology, including the use of LUPI, and Zygo interferometers in single pass, and double pass configurations.
Essential Functions
- Perform rough and final polishing operations to product precision flat, spherical, and aspheric optics in sub-micron range.
- Perform final polishing and figuring of diamond machined optical surfaces.
- Fabricate tooling and pitch laps as required to manufacture precision components
- Maintain documentation on projects in process, including process serialization and test reports.
- Promote continuous product improvement by conceptualizing and implementing new procedures processes or fixtures
