Description:
Axsys Technologies, a $200M public company, with multiple operating divisions located throughout the US, manufactures and sells a broad range of high performance electro-mechanical and electro-optical components and sub-assemblies to the aerospace, defense, electronics capital equipment, graphic arts and medical-imaging markets. Our IR Systems division in Nashua, NH produces precision infrared and visible optical components for use in high-end military and commercial applications

Basic Function
Performs subassembly and assembly operations to build up and assemble optical, mechanical, and electrical units of moderate complexity. Works from production/assembly instructions, parts lists, wire lists, diagrams, verbal instructions and notes to assemble, wire and install a wide variety of components. Utilizes a wide variety of small hand tools such as soldering irons, wire strippers, crimpers, wrenches, screwdrivers and pliers. Moderate knowledge of production products, components, part prints optical/mechanical assemblies and processes.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

• Builds optical/mechanical production sub-assemblies and final assemblies in accordance with specified manufacturing processes, ensuring full conformance to specifications
• Generates and records assembly data and documentation including product and component traceability and test data
• Performs in process and final inspections of production products to assure conformance to quality standards, including serialization and packaging prior to shipment.
• Assists in the training of entry level assemblers
• Interacts with Manufacturing Engineers and Quality Assurance to resolve problems and implement improvements
• Responsible for maintaining a clean, orderly and organized work area
• Responsible for safe handling of all solvents and epoxies

Education,Training:
High School Diploma and Associates Degree or formal technical training preferred

Experience:
3-5 years extensive experience assembling optical and mechanical assemblies
3-5 years experience measuring and evaluating mechanical assemblies
Good verbal and written communications skills
Basic computer skills
