Our Precision Machined Products division in Cullman, AL produces precision components and sub-assemblies primarily used in aerospace, defense and space applications.

Job Summary:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to, assisting customers with design solutions for opto-mechanical systems and structures. This also includes project management and co-ordination of DFM & DFA activities. Typical projects will be for aerospace, defense and space applications of beryllium or aluminum beryllium, although projects involving other materials are possible.

Qualification Requirements:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Job requires Bachelor's degree (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Optical Engineering or Applied Physics or equivalent from a four-year college or university; three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Essential duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Develops opto-mechanical designs for mirrors, structures and assemblies.
• Works in conjunction with customer engineering staff to optimize product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods. Also optimizes the material input for a project.
• Confers with management, manufacturing engineers, optical technicians and machining personnel regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
• Supports planning sequence of operations for fabrication and assembly of parts and components.
• Effectively utilize CAD in producing engineering drawings, sketches, tooling and support of FEA analysis.
• Resolves technical problems involving design, manufacturing, assembly or testing using internal and external support.
• Provides project-engineering support for assigned programs.
